A nurse anesthetist is a specially educated advanced-practice registered nurse. The official title is CRNA, which stands for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. CRNA’s practice in every setting in which anesthesia is delivered: traditional hospital suites and obstetrical delivery rooms; the offices of dentists, podiatrists, ophthalmologists, and plastic surgeons; ambulatory surgical centers; and U.S. Military, Public Health Services and Veterans Administration medical facilities.
